Three Books by Jon Gordon

Jon Gordon is a best selling author and keynote speaker known for developing positive leaders, organizations, and teams. He has written more than a dozen books. Here are 3 I recently picked up (read the first two last week while on vacation):

  • The Energy Bus: 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy
This book takes readers on an enlightening and inspiring ride that reveals 10 secrets for approaching life and work with the kind of positive, forward thinking that leads to true accomplishment – at work and at home. Jon infuses this engaging story with keen insights as he provides a powerful roadmap to overcome adversity and bring out the best in yourself and your team. When you get on The Energy Bus you’ll enjoy the ride of your life!
  • Training Camp: What the Best Do Better Than Everyone Else
This book follows the story of Martin Jones, an un-drafted rookie trying to make it to the bright lights and big money of the NFL. He’s spent his whole life proving to the critics that a small guy with a big heart can succeed against all odds. After spraining his ankle in the preseason, Martin thinks his dream is lost when he happens to meet a very special coach who shares eleven life-changing lessons that keep Martin’s dream alive-and might even make him the best of the best. Whether you play sports or the piano or work with numbers, a computer or a scalpel, these lessons apply to everyone who must climb the mountain before reaching its peak.
  • You Win in the Locker Room First: The 7 C’s to Build a Winning Team in Business, Sports, and Life
This book draws on the extraordinary experiences of Coach Mike Smith and Jon Gordon—consultant to numerous college and professional teams—to explore the seven powerful principles that any business, school, organization, or sports team can adopt to revitalize their organization.

Your turn… If you’ve read any of these books take a moment to share your impressions.

Three Resources to Help Boost Your Productivity

If you’re looking for some ways to be more productive, you’ll enjoy these books:

  • Do More Better: A Practical Guide to Productivity by Tim Challies
In this book you will learn: common obstacles to productivity, the great purpose behind productivity, 3 essential tools for getting things done, the power of daily and weekly routines and much more, including bonus material on taming your email.
  • The 5AM Miracle: Dominate Your Day Before Breakfast by Jeff Sanders
This book is a resource guide for high-achievers. It is for anyone who has a wild passion for life and is in search of a structured system that will hone those passions, clarify their big goals, and produce real, amazing results.
  • Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time by Brian Tracy
This book will change your life. There just isn’t enough time for everything on our “To Do” list—and there never will be. Successful people don’t try to do everything. They learn to focus on the most important tasks and make sure they get done.

Your turn… What resources do you use to increase your productivity?

Three Forces That Shape Character by @MichaelHyatt

This will be my last post for a few weeks (I plan to resume after the Holidays but probably not until early February as I’ll be tied up with planning a big Men’s Conference with Donald Miller and Bob Goff). So, as I close out this year I thought you would be blessed with some thoughts from a recent Leadership Podcast by Michael Hyatt. This episode focuses on the 3 forces that shape character. I’ll mention them here and encourage you to go and check out the complete episode (by the way, if you don’t already follow Michael Hyatt; do yourself a favor and start today — he consistently provides great resources focusing on Intentional Leadership).

There are three forces that shape who we are at the core of our being:

  1. The input we consume.
  2. The relationships we pursue.
  3. The habits we acquire.

Your turn… You can listen to, watch, or read the transcript from this podcast here. What resonates with you from this podcast?
