Three Bible Study Books by Timothy Keller

I mentioned the God’s Word For You series in a previous post called Three Devotional Resources. Today I want to highlight 3 of the Bible Study Books from this series by Timothy Keller.  I’ve really enjoyed working through these recently and I think you will as well:

First in a new series of expository guides to the Bible, Timothy Keller’s Galatians For You is a personal or group curriculum that walks you through the book of Galatians, showing how the gospel message changes the whole of our lives.

Second in a new series of expository guides to the Bible, Timothy Keller’s Judges For You walks you through the book of Judges, showing how the flawless God is at work in the most flawed situations and the most failing people.

Join Dr Timothy Keller as he opens up the first half of the book of Romans, helping you to get to grips with its meaning and showing how it transforms our hearts and lives today.

Your turn… Have you read any of these yet? If so, take a moment to share your thoughts.

Three Devotional Resources

In addition to spending time reading my Bible I usually find myself reading through a daily devotional of some kind on most days. Here are 3 I really enjoy and think you should check out:

“After many years of writing her own words in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to be more attentive to the Savior’s voice and begin listening for what He was saying. So with pen in hand, she embarked on a journey that forever changed her—and many others around the world. In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope. Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace. Jesus is calling out to you in the same way. Maybe you share the author’s need for a great sense of “God with you”. Or perhaps Jesus seems distant without you knowing why. Or maybe you have wandered farther from Him that you ever imagined you would. Here is a year’s worth of daily readings from Young’s journals to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from monologue to a dialogue. Each day is written as if Jesus Himself were speaking to you. Because He is. Do you hear Him calling?”

Erich’s note: I heard of this one about 2 years ago but it wasn’t until last year when some good friends, Joe and Jane Keller, gave me the leather-bound version for my birthday that I started reading it daily (and have absolutely loved it). Most days it feels as if it was written specifically for me.

“Ken Gire delicately weaves events, emotions, thoughts, and faces into a moving depiction of the life of Christ that takes you on a step-by-step journey with the Lord. Woven with threads of humanity and divinity, Moments with the Savior reveals the Lord who calls you to a more intimate relationship with him. This compilation of Ken’s best-selling Moments with the Savior books contains all the devotions from the four previous books as well as many new devotions — all in one deluxe hardcover volume.”

Erich’s note: I discovered this one more than a decade ago and have read through it several times. Get it, read it, reflect on it, and I promise you will not be disappointed.

“Each volume of this series takes you to the heart of a book of the Bible, and applies it’s truths to your heart. The central aim of each title is to be Bible centered, Christ glorifying, relevantly applied, and easily readable.”

Erich’s note: I have really enjoyed the first 2 volumes in this series Galatians For You & Judges For You (both by Timothy Keller) and I’m looking forward to the others as they come out (you can find a list of the ones they are planning here). Spend some time on their website and you’ll find lots of other great resources too.

Your turn… What are some devotional resources you would recommend others checking out?
